This weeks significant/interesting games:
Cherokee 41, Washington Twp. 0 - it wasn't even that close as Cherokee had a 34-0 halftime lead and then called off the first string.
Williamstown 30, Moorestown 14 - big game against Cnext week!
Paul VI 36, Bishop Eustace 7 - Paul VI gets on rolling along - started out slowly and then dominated the game
Holy Spirit 35, St. Joe's 0 - is Holy Spirit that good? or is St. Joe's overrated? or both or what? basically ST. Joe's made a lot of errors and Holy Spirit jumped out to a 21-0 lead at the half after two SJ fumbles and a 5yd. punt. Hard to judge either team based on that.
Atlantic City - bye - keep in mind their opponents are a combined 2-9, but I like to keep them ranked high until they falter
Delsea 35, Highland 8 - Delsea back on track and had a 35-0 lead.
Hammonton - bye -
Clearview 19, Winslow Twp. 13 - great upset for THE VIEW!
Shawnee 27, Seneca 12 - Shawnee led 27-0 at half and at end of 3rd.
Paulsboro 13, Audubon 6 - these two terams are getting to be tough to predict
West Deptford 31, Haddonfield 25 - FG at end of game wins it - these 2 may meet again
Absegami 10, Vineland 0 - Vineland's bubble bursts, but it was a nice run for them
Glassboro 20, Pitman 7 - Pitman came to play!
Penns Grove 34 Woodstown 0 - playoffs - don't talk about playoffs
Holy Cross 45, Delran 7 - slow start, but HC turns it on in the 3rd.
Camden Catholic 15, Camden 12 - extra points make the difference
Willingboro 26, Maple Shade 0 - nice win for W'boro
Willingboro 6 Burlington Twp. 0 - not much scoring here
Woodbury 42, Haddon Twp. 7 - first chance to compare a Woodbury score with a Paulsboro score and the scores were close as Paulsboro had beat HT 40-0
Woodrow Wilson 38, Gloucester Catholic 21 - WW and Camden will compete for division title
Pennsville 25, Salem 14 - PV played without their star player
Collingswood 14, Haddon Heights 7 - nice win for the Colls
New Egypt 20, Palmyra 19 - another game determined by extra points
Bridgeton 20, Buena 17 - both teams needed this to get on track, but Bridgeton prevails
Burlington City 6. Maple Shade 0 - City playing close games and MS keeps losing - not a good sign for either
Timber Creek 35, Kingsway 20 - well that settles that and Kingsway can't beat a decent team - both came in with thioer losses being to very good teams
Schalick 26, Gloucester 12 - major impact on second tier Group 1 seedings for playoffs
EHT 24, St. Augustine 0 - EHT needs to get rady for hammonton next week and St. A. is 0-4!
I will adjust the rankings below after after today's games, so check back.
My top 5 for each public group: Remember that I keep last year's top teams where they left off unless they are unimpressive
(after Saturday 10/02)
Group 4:
1. Cherokee (3-0)
2. Williamstown (3-0) - big showdown with Cherokee coming up!
3. Atlantic City (3-0)
4. Shawnee (3-1)
5. Vineland (3-1) - perhaps they should drop out of the top 5, but who is worthy of moving up here? EHT also lost to Absegami, but Gami has two losses (to very good teams)
Egg Harbor Twp. (3-1) - under consideration for wildcard
Group 3:
1. Delsea (4-0)
2. Hammonton (3-0)
3. Winslow Twp. (3-1)
4. Moorestown (2-2) lost but are still probably better than WW
5. Woodrow Wilson (3-0) - hasn't beaten a winning team
Group 2:
1. West Deptford (3-0)
2. Haddonfield (2-1)
3. Willingboro (3-0)
4. Collingswood (3-0)
5. Camden (2-1) - tough loss to CC - considering moving them up despite loss
Delran (3-1) - under consideration for wildcard
Lower Cape May - 3-0 after but against weak competiton - plays 2-2 Bridgeton next week
Group 1:
1. Paulsboro (3-0)
2. Glassboro (4-0)
3. Penns Grove (3-1) - plays today
4. Woodbury (2-1) - only loss to top team in Group 2
5. Pennsville (4-0) - plays today
Non-Publics (all together): tough decisions on the top 3! Put them in whatever order you like!
1. Holy Spirit (4-0) - moved them up, but not because of this week's big win, because St. Joe's gave away the game. they have just played a stronger schedule than Paul VI
2. Paul VI (4-0) - Undefeated and keep the ranking from last year, but it will be tougher competion for this spot this year!
3. Holy Cross (4-0) - strong win gives them a good argument for the top spot
4. Camden Catholic (3-0)
5. St. Joseph's (2-1)
Gloucester Catholic, St. Augustine and Bishop Eustace do not seem to be able to contend for these rankings.
