Editorial:

Fans need to not be such wimps about the weather! The players do not get a choice of clothing. As a fan you can prepare and bring layers to put on or take off. Sad to see fans hanging out in the men's rooms to keep warm during the finals. Heck, I remember finals being played in much worse weather. Are we becoming a "soft" society? - YES!

Go out and buy some clothes in which you can watch games in a blizzard with a temp below zero! You want your team to be ready for the finals, so you be ready too! Can't complain about your team's performance if your performance as a fan was sub-par!

2009 South Jersey Overall Rankings - Final

Traditional South Jersey only!!!!

My rules: No more than 6 from any one group or from all Non-Publics - the top 5 from each Group and one wildcard for 26 teams. Non-Publics get the wildcard this week again.

first the undefeated (oops - there are none!):

Next the one loss teams:

1. Cherokee (11-1) - Group 4 #1 - (power points = 166) - beat Williamstown and EHT

Williamstown lost to Cherokee by 9 and EHT lost by 14; Williamstown beat Delsea by 15 and Delsea broke the scoring record for South Jersey. Hammonton had some close games, but showed the ability to win the close ones!

2. Williamstown (10-1) - Group 4 #2 - (148)

3. Egg Harbor Twp. (11-1) - Group 4 #3 - (158)

4. Delsea (11-1) - Group 2 #1 - (160)

Let me know of any typos please! I am half blind (should be a ref if I didn't have bad knees) and have fumble fingers when I type!

2009 Group 1 Rankings - Final

Until they lose, the defending Group Champions are always ranked #1. The team most likely to take over the championship will be #2. Since PG beat Glassboro, they are ranked #1 and Glassboro is #2 and still favored to win championship.

Top contenders to take the championship away from Glassboro = Woodbury, Paulsboro and Penns Grove

I am not listing the computer rankings as I think that their bogusness has been well proven. I may add at the end of the season.

Fina

1. Woodbury (11-1) - holds top spot with 2 wins over #2 and one win over #3 - 3rd seed with 118

2. Paulsboro (9-2) - bigger win over #4 than PG had, but lost by more to #1, so I add up the scores 9using the most recent game against Woodbury and the game against Glassboro and come up with Paulsboro 35-14 and PG 30-31 - 4th seed with 105

3. Penns Grove (9-2) - tough playoff loss - 2nd seed in playoffs - 121 power points

4. Glassboro (9-2) – Defending Group 1 South Champions - ran out of stream! - 1st seed with 135 power points

5. Pennsville (7-3) - 6th seed with 89

6. Schalick (7-3) - 7th seed with 88

7. Haddon Heights (6-4) - 5th seed with 97

8. Florence (6-4) - 6th seed in Central - 88

9. Palmyra (6-4) - 8th seed with 72

10. Burlington City (5-5) - 69

11. Audubon (5-5) - 50

12. Haddon Twp. (5-5) - 56

13. Maple Shade (4-6) - 56
14. Gloucester (3-7) - 55

15. Lindenwold (2-8) - 56 - drops with consolation loss

16. Pitman (4-6) - both wins are over Wildwood! - 35

17. Clayton (3-4) - 28 - beat Salem and Riverside but short on power points due to number of games played

18. Salem (2-8) - 45

19. New Egypt (2-8) - 34

20. Gateway (0-10) - 27

21. Riverside (0-10) - 19

22. Wildwood (0-8) - 21

Playoffs:
Palmyra at Glassboro - minor problem for the BORO, but came on strong in 2nd half!
Schalick at Penns Grove - re-matches are always scary, But Schalick came in believing in themselves - PG won but Schalick almost revenged the first round match-up of 2006
Pennsville at Woodbury - exciting match-up won by Woodbury but they almost let PV come onto their field to win just like PG did last year!
Haddon Heights at Paulsboro - a re-match and very few beat Paulsboro at Paulsboro in the playoffs and that is how it came out!
2nd round:
Paulsboro at Glassboro - Paulsboro played their best game in 3 years and Glassboro played their worst game in 3 years as Glasboro ran out of steam late in the season and Paulsboro improved as the season progressed.
Woodbury at Penns Grove - it was a great game, but Woodbury turned the tables on last year's outcome!
So it was an all Colonial final after an all Tri-County the year before and after one from each for the previous 5 years!
Final:
Paulsboro at Woodbury - I favored Paulsboro to avenge their ealier loss, but that was not to be!
Woodbury shut down Paulsboro and dominated the game!
Woodbury 16, Paulsboro 0
Note to the fans: Why be such chumps in the bad weather? You have stood (or sat) in worse weather before!!!! AND the players had to deal with it with no clothing options!
