Weekly Update: 09/12/10

This weeks significant/interesting games:

Glassboro 13, Penns Grove 12 - a great game with the winner favored for the Diamond Division titlte and a higher seed in the playoffs. A game that was all it was expected to be with great defense and big plays by the players that you expect to make them. Extra points count - same as last year's game -2 TDs each and extra points make difference!

Atlantic City 26, St. Augustine 24 - An upset and a close game. St. A. did not lose to a South Jersey team last year!

Absegami 17, EHT 13 - Gami takes down last year's Group 4 finalist and re-establishes itself as a contender.

Clearview 46, Cherry Hill East 23 - Clearview surprised a lot of people with this one!

Winslow Twp. 32, Washington Twp. 13 - much bigger margin than anyone expected!

Cherokee 35, Lenape 21 -last year's top team keeps on winning

Williamstown 34, Eastern 16 - last year's #2 in my rankings stepped into a different level of competion and proved their worth!

Group 3:

1. Hammonton (11-1) - squeaked out 2 wins on FGs, but won Group 3!

The next 4 could be in any order as TC beat Seneca and Pemberton but lost to BT and Pemberton beat BT, but my sidebar poll ranked TC higher and TC and Seneca won in the first round. TC made it to the finals and Seneca upset Cherokee; Seneca lost to hammonton by 3 and TC lost by 6, so Seneca would get the #2 slot if they had not lost head to head against TC!
