Thanksgiving:

Wednesday night:

Eastern beats Washington Twp. 27-21 in OT. These teams always play a competitive game.

Thursday:

Mainland barely beats Egg Harbor Twp. 30-27

Clayton upsets Pitman 14-7

Kingsway upsets Clearview 27-6

Overbrook upsets Lindenwold 20-12

Riveride upsets Florence 6-0

Woodbury comes form behind to beat Gateway 19-14

Woodstown plays a close one and beats Salem 22-20

Friday:

Paulsboro beats West Deptford 19-10; Any defense that can hold Glassboro to 3 TDs and then hold WD to a TD and a FG is EXCELLENT!!!!

Hammonton crushes St. Joe's 27-0; Hammonton is a good team, but not an elite team and St. Joe's will significantly drop in my rankings

Moorestown beats Holy Cross 28-7; both of HC's defeats have been by big margins

St. Augustine beats Buena 38-28; Buena put up a good fight

Group 1 finalists: Glassboro and Penns Grove both win - Glassboro is 11-0 and one of the eleite of South Jersey; Paulsboro which is not in the finals is another elite team; Penns Grove would be a 2nd tier team

Group 2 finalists: Delsea loses to Williamstown; West Deptford lost - WD is 9-1 and one of the elite teams; Buena, Delsea and Haddonfield would be 2nd tier teams;

Group 3 finalists: Shawnee and Hammonton both win - Shawnee is 11-0 and one of the elite teams; Cumberland, Hammonton, Ocean City, Triton would be on the 2nd tier

Group 4 finalists: Mainland survives a scare and is 11-0; Southern wins also - Mainland is 11-0 and is of the elite teams; they should learn from thier close call and be even better. There are a few elite teams in Group 4 - Cherokee, Williamstown, Washington Twp., Eastern; Egg Harbor is close to the elite but I will put them 2nd tier along with Absegami and Atlantic City

Non-Public Group 2: Holy Cross lost to Moorestown 28-7; Hudson Catholic did not play - Holy Cross and St. Joe's would be 2nd tier teams

Non-Public 3 and 4: no South Jersey teams survived here - St. Augustine, Camden Catholic and Gloucester Catholic could be put among the elite; Holy Spirit would be on the second tier

So my elite in alpha order: (none of these teams has lost to anyone from South Jersey who is not also on this list except for Eastern)

Camden Catholic

Cherokee

Eastern

Glassboro

Gloucester Catholic

Mainland

Paulsboro

Shawnee

St. Augustine

Washington Twp.

West Deptford

Williamstown

the 2nd tier:

Absegami

Atlantic City

Buena

Cumberland

Delsea

Haddonfield

Hammonton

Holy Cross

Holy Spirit

Ocean City

Penns Grove

St. Joe's

Triton

So there are my top 25 in no particular order with plenty of room for debate.

Small groups:

Glassboro clearly is on top with Paulsboro and West Deptford right behind.

CC and GC make the top 5 easy to figure out.

After those 5, it gets muddled:

Delsea, St. Joe's and Buena lost this week to highly regarded teams while Holy Spirit, Penns Grove and Haddonfield won. Holy Cross lost to a good team, but a team that was having a down year.

Holy Spirit beat Buena earlier in the season as did St. Joe's; Buena beat PG; Delsea beat Haddonfield; Haddonfield beat Woodbury by 9 more than PG did. St. Joe's has 5 losses and did not look good against Hammonton and has to be ranked below a team they beat simply because of all of their losses and the big loss this week.

So: HC, HS, Delsea, Buena, Haddonfield, PG, St. Joe's

Next:

Gloucester, Woodbury, Haddon Heights, Palmyra, Delran

They all either won against a lower ranked team or lost to a higher ranked team. I keep them in the same order.

Bishop Eustace, Florence, Pennsville all lost

Bridgeton and Burlington Twp. did not play

I'll move Bridgeton up just on a hunch and leave the others in their previous order.

Haddon Twp. beat Audubon and moves ahead.

Gateway had a good showing in their loss to Woodbury and stays just behind HT and Audubon.

New Egypt won and maintains their ranking.

Camden moves up ahead of Woodrow Wilson and Maple Shade.

Collingswood moves past Schalick and Sterling. Schalick drops below Sterling after being soundly defeated.

Willingboro beat Cinnaminson which beat Riverside and they stay as ranked, but give credit to Riverside for beating Florence!

Pemberton, Lindenwold, Middle Twp., Woodstown, Pitman, Salem, Overbrook

Overbrook moves above Lindenwold, otherwise they stay the same.

Pleasantville, Bordentown, Burlington city and Lower Cape May stay in order.

Clayton moves up above Wildwood based on having beat a higher ranked team despite their earlier loss to Wildwood.

11/23/08

Playoff week - Round 2

Group 1:

Glassboro 21, Paulsboro 13

Penns Grove 14, Haddon Heights 0

This sets up the first ever all Tri-County Group 1 Final.

First time since 1999 that a Colonial Conference team is not in the finals.

Last time that neither the Colonial nor Tri-County had a finalist and the last time that Gloucester county did not have a finalist was 1985.

I will move Palmyra up in my standings based on my poll in which 52% felt that they should be ranked higher, but even though the majority stated that they should be higher than 15, I just can't bring myself to rank them above Haddon Heights.

Group 2:

Delsea 39, Haddonfield 29

West Deptford 39, Buena 21

Interesting how both winners scored 39.

This sets up an all Gloucester County final. The only other time this happened was in 1986, which was an all Tri-County final.

I can't punish teams too much for a playoff loss in Round 2.

Group 3:

Shawnee 35, Triton 0

Hammonton 13, Lacey 6

The last time the Cape-Atalantic played the Olympic in the finals was in 2001.

Group 4:

Mainland 45, Washington Twp. 10

Southern 14, Cherokee 13 OT

The Cape-Atlantic also played the Shore in the finals last year.

Central Group 2:

Manasquan 21, Delran 20

The other bracket also had a 21-20 game.

There are now no South Jersey teams alive in the Central brackets.

Non-Public Group 2:

Holy Cross 25, Bishop Eustace 7

Hudson Catholic 3, St. Joe's 0

Holy Cross upped the score in the re-match and should be favored in the finals. They will move ahead of Paulsboro in my rankings.

Non-Public 3:

Immaculata 14, Gloucester Catholic 7

St. Joe's-Montvale 35, Camden Catholic 7

Neither loss should count against these teams in the rankings.

11/16/08

Subject to proof-reading – please let me know of my typos – thanks to those who point out my errors, but I find more later, so please proofread for me! Input is always appreciated.

Group 1:

#8 Haddon Heights 33, #1 Palmyra 9

#2 Paulsboro 50, #7 Pennsville 7

#3 Glassboro 34, #6 Gloucester 0 – Gloucester showed Glassboro where they needed to improve in the first meeting and the Dogs learned well.

#5 Penns Grove 28, #4 Woodbury 21 – best game of the week

Colonial vs. Tri-County in round 2:

Glassboro and Paulsboro are the favorites and Paulsboro should be packed this week.

Haddon Heights at Penns Grove is a very interesting match-up.

Group 2:

#1 Delsea – bye

#2 West Deptford – bye

#3 Buena 29, Bridgeton 7 – each team scored one more point than their first meeting

#4 Haddonfield 52, Woodrow Wilson 13

Colonial teams take on the Tri-County and the CAL.

Toss-up group with Delsea and West Deptford being favored.

Group 3:

#1 Shawnee 42, #8 Timber Creek 18 – first meeting was 28-14

#2 Hammonton 42, #7 Cumberland 21

#6 Lacey 6, #3 Ocean City 0 – best game in this group

#5 Triton 28, #4 Brick Twp. 7

Rematches in round 2:

Shawnee is heavily favored and beat Triton 39-13 earlier in the season.

Hammonton beat Ocean City 42-13 earlier in the season.

Group 4:

#1 Mainland 42, #8 Eastern 14

#2 Cherokee 34, #7 Egg Harbor 18

#6 Southern 20, #3 Toms River North 9 – TRN had won first meeting 7-6

#4 Washington Twp. 28, #5 Williamstown 24

Olympic Conference vs. Mainland again this week.

Central Group 1:

Florence loses to a strong Bound Brook team 36-26

New Egypt loses to highly regarded Asbury Park 14-0 – lowest point total for Asbury Park this year!

Central Group 2:

Delran beats Raritan 42-0

Burlington Twp. loses to Point Pleasant Boro 41-19

Central Group 4:

Pennsauken loses to top seed South Brunswick 21-12

Non-Public Group 2:

Bishop Eustace beats Morris Catholic 28-14 and will now play Holy Cross in round 2 – HC won their regular season game 21-14 in OT, so this could be a good one!

St. Joseph’s of Hammonton (5-3) travels to Hudson Catholic (5-3) in round 2.

Non-Public Group 3:

#3 Gloucester Catholic beat #6 Pope John 37-14 and now plays #2 Immaculata

#5 Camden Catholic beat #4 Bishop Ahr 34-17 and now plays the winner (Sunday game) of #1 St. Joe’s–Montvale vs. #8 Delbarton.

#7 Holy Spirit loses to #2 Immaculata 21-20 in OT

Small Schools rankings:

It has to remain Glassboro, Paulsboro and West Deptford. I rank the 3 based on their last year’s performance vs. each other. Glassboro beat Paulsboro and Paulsboro beat West Deptford. But West Deptford has larger margins of victories against common opponents with Paulsboro. When I get to the Gloucester County rankings, it will be tough to decide where to place Washington Twp. and Williamstown amongst them.

Palmyra goes down and the question is “how far”, but Camden Catholic and Gloucester Catholic are strong 8-1 teams.

GC looks good, but the Royal Division did not fare well this week.

GC has more power points than CC. They both lost to undefeated teams. I’ll give the edge to GC keep them over CC. They will probably not meet in the playoffs to settle it, but there may be a comparative score from a common opponent.

So: Glassboro, Paulsboro, WD, GC and CC are the easy top 5 in whatever order you want to put them.

After those 5, we have to look at two loss teams. Holy Cross, Holy Spirit and Delsea get the top nods. Then you look at Buena, Delran, Haddonfield and Penns Grove.

And Palmyra drops farther – how far?

I’ll rank the top three by power points: Holy Spirit, Holy Cross, Delsea

Delran lost to 2 impressive teams as did Buena and Haddonfield. Buena has more power points, so I will give them the slight edge for now. Delran and Haddonfield are equal in power points (prior to playoffs), but Haddonfield was shutout in their two losses.

Buena beat PG so those 2 are easy.

Haddonfield’s conference proved itself this week, so Haddonfield goes above Delran.

Haddonfield beat Woodbury by 16 and PG won by 7, so I will rank them Buena, Delran Haddonfield, PG.

At 5-3, we have St. Joe’s. Their losses are to impressive teams. They beat Buena by 7 so I’ll rank them above them.

So, starting with #6, I have Holy Cross, Delsea, St. Joe’s, Buena and Haddonfield to round out the top ten.

Then I have Delran and PG.

But where do I put Palmyra? Do I drop them and all of their Division below Haddon Heights?

At 3 losses, we have Florence, Gloucester, Holy Spirit, Pennsville , Woodbury and St.Joe’s (above). The 4 loss teams Haddon Heights and Bishop Eustace need to put in with them as they remain in the playoffs.

I feel that Holy Spirit belongs above them having lost in OT by just one point.

Then I go with Bishop Eustace. All of their losses are to playoff teams.

Next comes Haddon Heights as they were impressive this week.

(but what about Palmyra?)

I strongly feel than Gloucester and Woodbury could beat Palmyra, but Pennsville could not.

So, Holy Spirit, Bishop Eustace, Haddon Heights, Gloucester, Woodbury, Palmyra, Florence and Pennsville

At 5 losses we have Audubon, Bridgeton, Burlington Twp., Haddon Twp., Gateway, Maple Shade, New Egypt, Schalick and Woodrow Wilson. We also have Sterling which plays on Monday.

I rank Bridgeton and Burlington Twp. on top of this group.

The Colonial Conference proved that they belong next.

Audubon beat Gateway.

Gateway beat Sterling, but lost to Audubon and Haddon Twp.

Haddon Twp. beat Gateway, but lost to Sterling.

Woodrow Wilson lost to New Egypt.

Maple Shade lost to WW.

Maple Shade beat Salem by 21 and Schalick beat them by 8.

So, I have Bridgeton, Burlington Twp., Audubon, Haddon Twp., Gateway, New Egypt, Woodrow Wilson, Maple Shade and Schalick. Sterling goes below them until after Monday night and then I will adjust.

At 6 losses, we have Camden, Cinnaminson, Collingswood, Pemberton, Riverside and Willingboro.

Camden is first based on level of competition and will be just behind Sterling until they play on Monday.

Collingswood is next based on the strength that the Colonial Conference showed this week.

Willingboro beat Pemberton by 29 and Cinnaminson by 3.

Cinnaminson beat Riverside by 19.

So, I rank them: Camden, Collingswood, Willingboro, Cinnaminson, Riverside and Pemberton.

At 2-7, we have Lindenwold, Middle Township, Pitman, Salem and Woodstown.

Lindenwold goes first based on strength of conference.

Woodstown is next based on Schedule strength.

Middle Twp. lost to Pennsville by 1 and Pennsville beat Pitman by 22. Pitman beat Salem.

So I will rank them: Lindenwold, Middle Twp., Woodstown, Pitman and Salem

At 1-7, 1-8 and 1-9 we have Bordentown, Burlington City, Overbrook, Pleasantville and Wildwood, but Wildwood gets ranked below most 0-8 teams.

Overbrook and then Pleasantville come from the stronger conferences. Overbrook beat Pleasantville.

Bordentown beat Burlington City.

At 0-8 and 0-9, we have Clayton and Lower Cape May.

So, I rank them: Overbrook, Pleasantville, Bordentown, Burlington City, LCM, Wildwood and Clayton

11/09/08

Subject to proof-reading – please let me know of my typos, especially if I forgot to update a team's record.

Playoff time!!!

Group 1: overall records = 52-12

Glassboro, Palmyra and Paulsboro start the playoffs undefeated at 8-0.

Gloucester, Penns Grove, Pennsville and Woodbury come in at 6-2.

Haddon Heights is in at 4-4

Only Haddon Heights lost this week (to undefeated West Deptford)

#1 Palmyra vs. #8 Haddon Heights

#2 Paulsboro vs. #7 Pennsville

#3 Glassboro vs. #6 Gloucester

#4 Woodbury vs. #5 Penns Grove

Glassboro and Paulsboro are the favorites. Palmyra may have the roughest road in round 1 despite being 1st seed. Gloucester has been known to cause trouble for Glassboro in nthe first round.

Group 2: overall records = 30-14

West Deptford starts the playoffs undefeated at 8-0.

Delsea is in at 6-2, but has the top seed!

Buena and Haddonfield are also in at 6-2.

Woodrow Wilson and Bridgeton are in at 4-4.

#1 Delsea – bye

#2 West Deptford – bye

#3 Buena vs. Bridgeton

#4 Haddonfield vs. Woodrow Wilson

Toss-up group with Delsea and West Deptford being favored.

Group 3: overall records = 43-21

Shawnee is undefeated at 8-0

Hammonton is in at 6-2

Brick Twp., Cumberland, Ocean City, Triton and Timber Creek are in at 5-3

Lacey is in at 4-4.

#1 Shawnee vs. #8 Timber Creek

#2 Hammonton vs. #7 Cumberland

#3 Ocean City vs. #6 Lacey

#4 Brick Twp. vs. #5 Triton

Shawnee is heavily favored.

Group 4: overall records = 56-8

Mainland and Williamstown are both undefeated at 8-0.

Cherokee, Southern, Toms River North and Washington Twp. are in at 7-1.

Eastern and Egg Harbor are in at 6-2.

#1 Mainland vs. #8 Eastern

#2 Cherokee vs. #7 Egg Harbor

#3 Toms River North vs. #6 Southern

#4 Washington Twp. vs. #5 Williamstown

Mainland is heavily favored, so many teams will seek to prove their worth and to take some pride in winning in the first round.

Williamstown and Washington Twp. is a natural rivalry and Williamstown needs to win to show that they are worthy of Group 4 as they have no Group 4 schools on their regular schedule.

Central Group 1:

Florence (6-2) is 6th seed and travels to Bound Brook (8-0).

New Egypt (4-4) is 8th seed and travels to heavily favored top seed Asbury Park (8-0).

Central Group 2:

Delran (6-2) is 5th seed and travels to Raritan (6-2).

Burlington Twp. (5-3) is 6th seed and travels to Point Pleasant Boro (7-1).

Central Group 4:

Pennsauken (5-3) is 8th seed and travels to top seed South Brunswick (7-1).

Non-Public Group 2:

Only 5 teams qualified.

Bishop Eustace (4-4) hosts Morris Catholic (4-4) with the winner facing Holy Cross (6-2) in round 2.

St. Joseph’s of Hammonton (5-3) travels to Hudson Catholic (5-3) in round 2.

Non-Public Group 3:

#3 Gloucester Catholic (7-1) hosts #6 Pope John (7-1).

#5 Camden Catholic (7-1) travels to #4 Bishop Ahr (7-1)

#7 Holy Spirit (6-2) travels to #2 Immaculata (7-1).

Palmyra hangs in there at 8-0, but Camden Catholic and Gloucester Catholic are strong 7-1 teams.

CC beat Delran by 38 compared to Palmyra winning by 16.
Palmyra beat Cinnaminson by 30 compared to CC winning by 22.

Tough call as there is slight edge to CC, but I will leave palmyra ahead of them because they are undefeated.

GC has more power points than CC. They both lost to undefeated teams. I’ll give the edge to GC and move them up over CC. They will probably not meet in the playoffs to settle it.

So: Glassboro, Paulsboro, WD, Palmyra, GC, CC

After those 6, we have to look at 6-2 teams. Holy Cross, Holy Spirit and Delsea get the top nods. Then you look at Buena, Delran, Florence, Gloucester, Haddonfield, Penns Grove, Pennsville and Woodbury.

I’ll rank the top three by power points: Holy Spirit, Holy Cross, Delsea

Delran lost to 2 impressive teams as did Buena and Haddonfield. Buena has more power points, so I will give them the slight edge for now. Delran and Haddonfield are equal in power points, but Haddonfield was shutout in their two losses.

Buena beat PG which beat Gloucester which beat Pennsville, so those 4 are easy. Where to put Florence and Haddonfield within them is the tough call. I have seen Florence and have to rank them below Gloucester. I’ll put them above PV due their strong edge in coaching.

Haddonfield has more power points than PG and Gloucester, so I will rank them after Buena and Delran.

Woodbury lost to Haddonfield and is seeded above PG.

So, I will rank them: Buena, Delran, Haddonfield, Woodbury, PG, Gloucester, Florence, Pennsville

Since St. Joe’s beat 5-4 Bridgeton, there is no debate to rank them above Bridgeton. The question is whether to rank them above most 6-2 teams.

At 5-3, we have St. Joe’s. Their losses are to impressive teams. They beat Buena by 7 and have more power points than any of the 6-2 teams. I’ll rank them above the 6-2 teams.

At 5-4 we have Bridgeton and Burlington Twp.

It is hard to judge as Bridgeton and Burlington Twp. have no common opponents, but Bridgeton has bounced back after losing their first 3 games and they get the nod. All Bridgeton’s losses are to playoff teams.

At 4-4 we have Bishop Eustace, Haddon Heights, New Egypt, Schalick and Woodrow Wilson.

Woodrow Wilson lost to New Egypt which lost to Bishop Eustace, so that part is easy.

Bishop Eustace took Holy Cross to OT, so I’ll put them first.

Haddon Heights gets the second spot, but can be compared to New Egypt after they have at least one common opponent after next week.

New Egypt is next.

WW gets the nod ahead of Schalick because they beat a winning team.

At 4-5, we have Maple Shade.

I’ll rank them between the 4-4’s and 3-5’s until after the consolation games.

At 3-5 we have Audubon, Collingswood, Gateway, Haddon Twp., Pemberton, Sterling, and Willingboro.

Willingboro beat Pemberton.

Audubon beat Gateway, but lost to Haddon Twp.

Collingswood beat Audubon, but lost to Gateway and Haddon Twp.

Gateway beat Collingswood and Sterling, but lost to Audubon and Haddon Twp.

Haddon Twp. beat Collingswood and Gateway, but lost to Sterling.

Sterling beat Haddon Twp., but lost to Gateway.

So this goes around in circles, so I will cop out and rank them by Power Points, then head-to-head and then schedule strength.

Gateway has 17 power points

Haddon Twp. has 15 power points.

Audubon has 15 power points and lost to HT.

Collingswood has 12 power points.

Sterling has 12 power points and lost to Collingswood

So, I rank them: Willingboro, Pemberton, Gateway, Haddon Twp., Audubon, Collingswood, Sterling – but I rank two 2-6 team above all of them!

At 2-6, we have Camden, Cinnaminson, Middle Township, Pitman, Riverside, Salem and Woodstown.

Camden and Woodstown have faced the toughest schedules. Camden beat 3-5 Pemberton and deserves to be above them. Camden beat Pemberton by 11 and WW beat them by 8. They deserve to be ahead of the 3-5 teams. Woodstown beat Group 3 teams, Deptford and Highland and deserves to be somewhere in the mix of 3-5 teams also.

Middle Twp. lost to Pennsville by 1 and Pennsville beat Pitman by 22. Pitman beat Salem.

Cinnaminson beat Riverside.

I’ll rank them: Cinnaminson, Middle Twp., Pitman, Riverside, Salem

At 1-7, we have Bordentown, Lindenwold, Pleasantville and Wildwood, but Wildwood gets ranked below most 0-8 teams.

Lindenwold beat a 3 win team. The others beat winless teams.

At 0-8, we have Burlington City, Clayton, Lower Cape May and Overbrook.

I move Overbrook above LCM after LCM’s loss to otherwise winless Pleasantville.

So, I rank them (with the 1 win teams in parenthesis): (Lindenwold), Overbrook, (Bordentown), (Pleasantville), LCM, Burlington City, (Wildwood), Clayton

11/02/08

Subject to proof-reading – please let me know of my typos - I had quite a few last week especially in the scoring margins.

Alphabetical by record

Glassboro (7-0) did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 310-31; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 250-31 compared to 240-33 last year against the same teams; 19 game win streak (longest in South Jersey) – last loss in 2006 to Paulsboro – record indicates about equal to last year; 3rd seed in South Group 1 win or lose against Pitman unless Gateway upsets Paulsboro; probable match-up in 1st round against Gloucester

Palmyra (7-0) did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 224-15; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 174-9 compared to 120-49 last year against the same teams; 10 game win streak – last loss in 2007 to New Egypt – record indicates significant improvement from last year; top seed in South Group 1 if they beat Florence; could match-up in 1st round with Haddon Heights or Schalick or Pennsville or even Gateway

Paulsboro (7-0) beats Haddonfield 20-0; last year they did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 207-40; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 153-33 compared to 130-14 last year against the same teams; 7 game win streak – last loss in 2007 to Glassboro – record indicates about equal to last year; probable 2nd seed in South Group 1 with a probable match-up against either Pennsville or Haddon Heights or possibly Schalick, or possibly Gloucester, if Gateway can pull the unlikely upset

West Deptford (7-0) beats Haddon Township 49-7; last year they won 15-7; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 311-55; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 222-35 compared to 98-53 last year against the same teams; 8 game win streak – last loss in 2007 to Paulsboro – record indicates significant improvement over last year; probable 2nd seed in Group 2 and could play Bridgeton or Barnegat or Woodrow Wilson

Paulsboro and West Deptford have common opponents Lindenwold, Audubon, Overbrook and Haddon Township. Paulsboro has outscored them 130-33. WD has outscored them 181-34. I keep Paulsboro ahead of WD in my rankings based on the last meeting between the 2, but there is a logical argument for WD. So, consider them even.

So, Paulsboro and WD get ranked closely together. And they will play to decide it. Paulsboro will probably play Glassboro in round 2 and then the 3 can be reasonably compared. I will rank WD and Glassboro based on their scoring margin vs. Paulsboro and Paulsboro will be ranked based on their victories or losses to those teams. Right now they are ranked based on last year against each other. They are 1, 2, 3 in Small School rankings. WD may be better but must avenge their defeat last year to Paulsboro to move up.

Williamstown (7-0) beats Gloucester Catholic 42-7; last year they lost 24-20; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 253-56; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 185-41 compared to 130-52 last year against the same teams; 8 game win streak – last loss in 2007 to Eastern – record indicates major improvement from last year

Williamstown manhandled GC and I will (reluctantly) rank them above Glassboro in the Tr-County and Gloucester County rankings. They have greatly improved since earlier in the season and will also be ranked above Washington Twp. So, I will rank them with undefeated Williamstown and Glassboro followed by Township.

Camden Catholic (6-1) beats Cinnaminson 35-13; last year they won 33-7; they have outscored their 7 opponents 191-84; they have outscored their 4 returning opponents 123-29 compared to 123-40 last year against the same teams; record indicates some improvement from last year; should be 4th or 5th seed and play Gloucester Catholic

Camden Catholic beat Delran and Cinnaminson 77-27 compared to Palmyra beating them 52-6 and they are even and Palmyra gets the nod by being undefeated.

Buena (6-1) lost to Holy Spirit 21-14; last year they lost 45-12; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 203-90; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 190-78 compared to being outscored 188-97 last year against the same teams; record indicates significant improvement from last year; probable 4th or 5th seed in Group 2 and could play Haddonfield

Florence (6-1) beats Burlington Twp. 24-6; last year they did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 180-75; they have outscored their 4 returning opponents 110-35 compared to 182-28 last year against the same teams; record indicates significantly down in scoring margin from last year; hard to predict their seeding in Central Group 1

Gloucester Catholic (6-1) lost to Williamstown 42-7; last year they won 24-20; they have outscored their 7 opponents 248-165; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 206-148 compared to 219-82 last year against the same teams; record indicates improvement over last year; probable 5th seed in Non-Public Group 3 with a possible match-up against Camden Catholic

Holy Spirit (6-1) beats Buena 21-14; last year they won 45-12; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 216-62 compared to 333-53 last year against the same teams; record indicates a lower ranking than last year, but you can’t fault them for the big loss to Mainland after the way Mainland beat Hammonton last week – they deserve to be ranked higher than some of the undefeated teams, but If Buena beat Penn Grove by 7 and Glassboro beat PG by 29, you could argue a 15 point differential; such comparisons have their weaknesses, but it is what it is; Parochial Group 3 rankings are tight and a deserving team will not make it; they must beat St. Augustine!

Holy Spirit has the closest margin of loss to very powerful Mainland. I had them ranked above Palmyra, but I expected more out of their win against Buena. It is debatable whether they should be above CC. I’ll list CC ahead, but it is an even call.

Washington Twp. (6-1) beats Cherry Hill East 39-14; last year they won 34-14 (2OT); they have outscored their first 7 opponents 211-100; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 178-93 compared to 166-138 last year against the same teams; record indicates significant improvement from last year

Township gets ranked above all of the undefeated teams but Glassboro and Williamstown. They play a tough schedule and lost to a very good team. With one loss I can’t make them my top team, but I will give them the respect of making them my third ranked team. Williamstown has significantly improved since their scrimmage. They could play Williamstown to settle the issue in the first round.

Cumberland (5-2) beats Clearview 17-7; last year they lost 20-19; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 200-117; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 145-110 compared to 125-92 last year against the same teams; record indicates similar to last year in scoring margin compared to last year; could be 7th seed in Group 3 and play Hammonton

Delran (5-2) beats Holy Cross 20-13; last year they lost 45-14; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 138-133; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 112-111 compared to 127-100 last year against the same teams; record indicates some improvement compared to last year

Delsea lost to Clearview, but moves ahead based on overall record. However, Delsea has not played Williamstown whom Clearview lost to. Delsea is probable #1 seed in Group 2 and opponent is unknown and a bye is possible.

PG gets ranked ahead based on head-to-head.

I have watched both Gloucester and Florence and based on observation only, I rank Florence above Gloucester based on won/loss record only. I keep changing my mind on this. Gloucester lost to teams with a combined record of 11-2 and Florence lost to a team with a record of 3-3.

Penns Grove (5-2) loses to Glassboro 35-6 beats Wildwood 53-6; last year did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 195-66; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 136-47 compared to 145-55 last year against the same teams; record indicates one more win against returning opponents, but similar to last year in scoring; they will most likely be 5th seed in Group 1 and play Woodbury

Pennsville and Penns Grove have common opponents Pitman, Clayton, Glassboro, Gloucester and Wildwood. PV won by a combined score of 171-132. PG won by 148-53. So, PG gets the edge. PG won their last meeting.
PG lost to Buena 13-6 and Pennsville beat Middle Twp. 27-26. Buena beat Middle Twp. 47-17, so PG is ranked above PV as I doubt that PV could have beat Buena.

Pennsville (5-2) loses to Gloucester 49-28; last year they lost 20-14; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 219-171; they are been outscored by their first 5 returning opponents 145-142 compared to outscoring 184-75 last year against the same teams; record indicates significantly down in scoring margin from last year; must beat Schalick or not make playoffs; if they win they will play either Paulsboro or Palmyra
