Weekly Update - 10/17/10

This weeks significant/interesting games:

Cherokee 35, Cherry West 6 – 28-0 at the half

Holy Spirit 42, Mainland 0 – HS waiting for some serious competition

Williamstown 41, Cherry Hill East 7 -one long run kept it from being a shutout

Paul VI 20, Eastern 14 – Eastern had 14-6 lead at the end of 1st, 2nd and 3rd

Holy Cross - bye week

Delsea 17, Camden Catholic 14 – last play FG was the difference; is CC that good or is Delsea not as good?

Shawnee - bye week

Pennsauken - bye week

Atlantic City 20, Egg Harbor Twp. 7 – AC is for real and may move up again!

Hammonton 28, Ocean City 15 – closer than I expected

Burlington Twp. 14, Northern Burlington 3 - Largest margin of loss for 2-3 NB

Moorestown 52, Kingsway 20 – 14-14 at one point, Moorestown scores 28 in 3rd! Compare this road win to Delsea beating Kingsway 48-25 at home – Moorestown may deserve to move up!

Paulsboro 28, Collingswood 6 - Colls had 6-0 lead at the half

West Deptford 52, Gateway 0 – easy game for WD against one of the weakest teams in South Jersey

Pennsville 21, Glassboro 12 – this will change things!!!!! But Glassboro still has first seed if they win out and possibly if they lose another – Glassboro seeded above PV regardless, but PV moves up in rankings and Glassboro down

Haddonfield 13, Lindenwold 0 – not an impressive win

Willingboro 56, Delran 0 - should they be ranked on top in Group 2?

Penns Grove 64, Wildwood 0 - this is a game that should not be scheduled!

Woodbury 35, Overbrook 0 - Herd keeps thundering along

Timber Creek 32, Woodrow Wilson 25 - WW finally played a decent team

St. Joe’s 41, Lower Cape May 10 – SJ beats an undefeated team (that had not much previous competition)

Salem 14, Camden 6 - upset of the week!!!!!

New Egypt 19, Allentown 0 – now NE has given Palmyra and Allentown their only losses

Palmyra 30, Florence 14 – Pals got to 4-1

Robbinsville 35, Burlington City 23 – City is just not competitive this year

Winslow Twp. 29, Lenape 19 – Winslow has 4 wins but two top ten opponents coming up

Seneca 21, Gloucester Catholic 13 – Seneca unimpressive

Washington Twp. 24, Clearview 21 – probably kills any hope for Clearview, but Clearview has done alright in their first year in group 4 – they will learn from this

Deptford 28, Highland 0 - Deptford has a winning streak!

My top 5 for each public group: Remember that I keep last year's top teams where they left off unless they are unimpressive

(after Saturday 10/16)

Group 4:

1. Cherokee (5-0)

2. Williamstown (4-1) – only loss to Cherokee

3. Shawnee (4-1) - only loss to Winslow – bye week

4. Pennsauken (4-1) - only loss to Shawnee, but beat Winslow – bye week

5. Atlantic City (5-0) – great win this week and I may move them up

Rancocas Valley (4-1) - under consideration for wildcard – bye week

Group 3:

1. Delsea (6-0)

2. Moorestown (4-2) losses are to Top Ten teams – perhaps is really the best team here, but with 2 losses, I have to leave them 2nd

3. Hammonton (4-1) - loss to EHT looks worse now as EHT will be unranked

4. Burlington Twp. (4-2) - losses are to undefeated teams

5. Winslow Twp. (4-2) is waiting in the wings if WW loses today

Woodrow Wilson (4-1) - drops out of rankings as wins are against weak teams

Group 2:

1. West Deptford (5-0)

2. Willingboro (5-0) - strong case to be ranked higher

3. Haddonfield (4-1)

4. Collingswood (3-2) – took WD to the limit – had Pulsboro worried for a half

5. Cinnaminson (3-3) has only lost to ranked teams

Camden (3-2) - drops out after surprise loss

Group 1: Glassboro drops 2 slots, So PG moves down 1

1. Paulsboro (4-0) - plays today

2. Pennsville (6-0)

3. Woodbury (4-1) - only loss to top team in Group 2

4. Glassboro (5-1)

5. Penns Grove (5-1) - only loss to Glassboro

Non-Publics (all together): tough decisions on the top 3! Put them in whatever order you like!

1. Holy Spirit (6-0)

2. Paul VI (6-0)

3. Holy Cross (5-0) – bye week

4. Camden Catholic (4-1) – lost a close one and does not move down here

5. St. Joseph's (4-1)

Gloucester Catholic, St. Augustine and Bishop Eustace do not seem to be able to contend for these rankings.
