Update - 10/24/10

This weeks significant/interesting games:

Cherokee 29, Shawnee 15 – another solid win against a good team

Holy Spirit 28, Hammonton 7 – also a solid win against a good team

Williamstown 49, Kingsway 21 – not much defense in this game

Paul VI 34, Winslow Twp. 18 – 14 fourth quarter points put this game away

Holy Cross 37, Maple Shade 13

Woodrow Wilson 42, Delsea 21 – upset of the week and Delsea will take a big fall in the rankings

Pennsauken 15 Camden Catholic 14 – CC loses another close one!

Atlantic City 15, Vineland 12 – AC is for undefeated, but the going gets tougher next week

Rancocas Valley 48 Lawrence 7

Moorestown 41 Highland 13 – actually I am surprised that it was that close

Paulsboro 41, Overbrook 16

West Deptford 41 Audubon 6

Willingboro 14 Pemberton 12

Pennsville 35, Gloucester 24

Burlington Twp. 14, Hopewell Valley 0

Haddonfield 42, Haddon Twp. 0

Woodbury 34, Haddon Heights 0 – HH will be a playoff team, but Woodbury and Paulsboro are on a different level.

St. Joe’s 43, Pleasantville 0 – a pleasant win for SJ

Glassboro - bye week (and needed)

Penns Grove 44, Clayton 0

Cinnaminson 25, Northern Burlington 14

Collingswood 17, Lindenwold 14 – Lindenwold had a pass bounce off the receiver’s hands in the end zone (intercepted by the Colls) with 18 seconds left

My top 5 for each public group: Remember that I keep last year's top teams where they left off unless they are unimpressive

(after Saturday 10/23)

Group 4:

1. Cherokee (6-0)

2. Williamstown (5-1) – only loss to Cherokee

3. Shawnee (4-2) - losses to Cherokee and Winslow

4. Pennsauken (5-1) - only loss to Shawnee, but beat Winslow (Central Jersey for playoffs)

5. Atlantic City (6-0) – big test next week

Rancocas Valley (5-1) - under consideration for wildcard (Central Jersey for playoffs)

Oakcrest (4-2) looks solid for playoffs

TRN from Ocean County and EHT should join this group for playoffs. Maybe Mainland or Southern or who knows whom too?

Group 3: toughest Group to rank!

1. Moorestown (4-2) losses are to Top Ten teams – perhaps is really the best team here and with 2 losses they move to the top

2. Woodrow Wilson (5-1) – finally beat a winning team

3. Delsea (6-1) – drops down

4. Burlington Twp. (5-2) - losses are to undefeated teams

5. Hammonton (4-2) - losses to Holy Spirit and EHT

Winslow Twp. (4-3) under consideration for wildcard

Timber Creek (4-2) also under consideration for wildcard

Delsea beat TC which beat WW which beat Delsea. TC also lost to Moorestown

Lacey Twp. will be top seed for playoffs and will be favored to beat all these teams.

Group 2:

1. West Deptford (6-0)

2. Willingboro (6-0)

3. Haddonfield (5-1)

4. Collingswood (4-2) – took WD to the limit, but could only play one half against Paulsboro and almost lost to Lindenwold

5. Cinnaminson (4-3) has only lost to ranked teams

2 Ocean County teams will be in playoffs.

This is a tough Group to figure for playoffs!

Group 1: Paulsboro/Woodbury winner will be #1 and the loser will be #3 next week as PV will take a bye

1. Paulsboro (6-0)

2. Pennsville (7-0)

3. Woodbury (5-1) - only loss to top team in Group 2

4. Glassboro (5-1) – bye week

5. Penns Grove (6-1) - only loss to Glassboro – bye next week

Palmyra and New Egypt (both 5-1) just would not be able to hang with the above teams.

Schalick, Gloucester and Haddon Heights are also playoff bound

Non-Publics (all together): tough decisions on the top 2! Put them in whatever order you like!

1. Holy Spirit (7-0)

2. Paul VI (7-0)

3. Holy Cross (6-0)

4. St. Joseph's (5-1)

5. Camden Catholic (4-2) – two close losses

Gloucester Catholic, St. Augustine and Bishop Eustace do not seem to be able to contend for these rankings.
