Alphabetical by record

Glassboro (7-0) did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 310-31; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 250-31 compared to 240-33 last year against the same teams; 19 game win streak (longest in South Jersey) – last loss in 2006 to Paulsboro – record indicates about equal to last year; 3rd seed in South Group 1 win or lose against Pitman unless Gateway upsets Paulsboro; probable match-up in 1st round against Gloucester

Palmyra (7-0) did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 224-15; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 174-9 compared to 120-49 last year against the same teams; 10 game win streak – last loss in 2007 to New Egypt – record indicates significant improvement from last year; top seed in South Group 1 if they beat Florence; could match-up in 1st round with Haddon Heights or Schalick or Pennsville or even Gateway

West Deptford (7-0) beats Haddon Township 49-7; last year they won 15-7; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 311-55; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 222-35 compared to 98-53 last year against the same teams; 8 game win streak – last loss in 2007 to Paulsboro – record indicates significant improvement over last year; probable 2nd seed in Group 2 and could play Bridgeton or Barnegat or Woodrow Wilson

Paulsboro and West Deptford have common opponents Lindenwold, Audubon, Overbrook and Haddon Township. Paulsboro has outscored them 130-33. WD has outscored them 181-34. I keep Paulsboro ahead of WD in my rankings based on the last meeting between the 2, but there is a logical argument for WD. So, consider them even.

So, Paulsboro and WD get ranked closely together. And they will play to decide it. Paulsboro will probably play Glassboro in round 2 and then the 3 can be reasonably compared. I will rank WD and Glassboro based on their scoring margin vs. Paulsboro and Paulsboro will be ranked based on their victories or losses to those teams. Right now they are ranked based on last year against each other. They are 1, 2, 3 in Small School rankings. WD may be better but must avenge their defeat last year to Paulsboro to move up.

Williamstown (7-0) beats Gloucester Catholic 42-7; last year they lost 24-20; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 253-56; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 185-41 compared to 130-52 last year against the same teams; 8 game win streak – last loss in 2007 to Eastern – record indicates major improvement from last year

Williamstown manhandled GC and I will (reluctantly) rank them above Glassboro in the Tr-County and Gloucester County rankings. They have greatly improved since earlier in the season and will also be ranked above Washington Twp. So, I will rank them with undefeated Williamstown and Glassboro followed by Township.

Camden Catholic (6-1) beats Cinnaminson 35-13; last year they won 33-7; they have outscored their 7 opponents 191-84; they have outscored their 4 returning opponents 123-29 compared to 123-40 last year against the same teams; record indicates some improvement from last year; should be 4th or 5th seed and play Gloucester Catholic

Camden Catholic beat Delran and Cinnaminson 77-27 compared to Palmyra beating them 52-6 and they are even and Palmyra gets the nod by being undefeated.

Buena (6-1) lost to Holy Spirit 21-14; last year they lost 45-12; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 203-90; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 190-78 compared to being outscored 188-97 last year against the same teams; record indicates significant improvement from last year; probable 4th or 5th seed in Group 2 and could play Haddonfield

Florence (6-1) beats Burlington Twp. 24-6; last year they did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 180-75; they have outscored their 4 returning opponents 110-35 compared to 182-28 last year against the same teams; record indicates significantly down in scoring margin from last year; hard to predict their seeding in Central Group 1

Gloucester Catholic (6-1) lost to Williamstown 42-7; last year they won 24-20; they have outscored their 7 opponents 248-165; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 206-148 compared to 219-82 last year against the same teams; record indicates improvement over last year; probable 5th seed in Non-Public Group 3 with a possible match-up against Camden Catholic

Holy Spirit (6-1) beats Buena 21-14; last year they won 45-12; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 216-62 compared to 333-53 last year against the same teams; record indicates a lower ranking than last year, but you can’t fault them for the big loss to Mainland after the way Mainland beat Hammonton last week – they deserve to be ranked higher than some of the undefeated teams, but If Buena beat Penn Grove by 7 and Glassboro beat PG by 29, you could argue a 15 point differential; such comparisons have their weaknesses, but it is what it is; Parochial Group 3 rankings are tight and a deserving team will not make it; they must beat St. Augustine!

Holy Spirit has the closest margin of loss to very powerful Mainland. I had them ranked above Palmyra, but I expected more out of their win against Buena. It is debatable whether they should be above CC. I’ll list CC ahead, but it is an even call.

Washington Twp. (6-1) beats Cherry Hill East 39-14; last year they won 34-14 (2OT); they have outscored their first 7 opponents 211-100; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 178-93 compared to 166-138 last year against the same teams; record indicates significant improvement from last year

Township gets ranked above all of the undefeated teams but Glassboro and Williamstown. They play a tough schedule and lost to a very good team. With one loss I can’t make them my top team, but I will give them the respect of making them my third ranked team. Williamstown has significantly improved since their scrimmage. They could play Williamstown to settle the issue in the first round.

Cumberland (5-2) beats Clearview 17-7; last year they lost 20-19; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 200-117; they have outscored their 6 returning opponents 145-110 compared to 125-92 last year against the same teams; record indicates similar to last year in scoring margin compared to last year; could be 7th seed in Group 3 and play Hammonton

Delran (5-2) beats Holy Cross 20-13; last year they lost 45-14; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 138-133; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 112-111 compared to 127-100 last year against the same teams; record indicates some improvement compared to last year

Delsea (5-2) beats Highland 42-7; last year they won 41-19; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 189-141; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 168-129 compared to 146-114 last year against the same teams; record indicates similar in scoring margins (but more scoring) as compared to last year; they should be 1st seed in Group 2 and play Collingswood or get a bye – most likely a bye

Delsea lost to Clearview, but moves ahead based on overall record. However, Delsea has not played Williamstown whom Clearview lost to. Delsea is probable #1 seed in Group 2 and opponent is unknown and a bye is possible.

Gloucester (5-2) beats Pennsville 49-28; last year they won 20-14; they have outscored their 7 opponents 239-110 compared to 178-115 last year against the same teams; record indicates significant improvement from last year; they will probably face Glassboro in round 1 of the Group 1 playoffs unless they lose to Wildwood (very unlikely)

Haddonfield (5-2) loses to Paulsboro 20-0; last year they did not play; they have outscored their 6 opponents 156-120; they have outscored their returning 5 opponents 122-93 compared to 86-49 last year against the same teams; record indicates some improvement from last year

Holy Cross (5-2) loses to Delran 20-13; last year they did not play; they outscored their first 7 opponents 124-79; they have outscored their 3 returning opponents 43-41 compared to 79-13 last year against the same teams; – record indicates significantly down from last year
PG gets ranked ahead based on head-to-head.

I have watched both Gloucester and Florence and based on observation only, I rank Florence above Gloucester based on won/loss record only. I keep changing my mind on this. Gloucester lost to teams with a combined record of 11-2 and Florence lost to a team with a record of 3-3.

Penns Grove (5-2) loses to Glassboro 35-6 beats Wildwood 53-6; last year did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 195-66; they have outscored their 5 returning opponents 136-47 compared to 145-55 last year against the same teams; record indicates one more win against returning opponents, but similar to last year in scoring; they will most likely be 5th seed in Group 1 and play Woodbury

Pennsville and Penns Grove have common opponents Pitman, Clayton, Glassboro, Gloucester and Wildwood. PV won by a combined score of 171-132. PG won by 148-53. So, PG gets the edge. PG won their last meeting.
PG lost to Buena 13-6 and Pennsville beat Middle Twp. 27-26. Buena beat Middle Twp. 47-17, so PG is ranked above PV as I doubt that PV could have beat Buena.

Pennsville (5-2) loses to Gloucester 49-28; last year they lost 20-14; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 219-171; they are been outscored by their first 5 returning opponents 145-142 compared to outscoring 184-75 last year against the same teams; record indicates significantly down in scoring margin from last year; must beat Schalick or not make playoffs; if they win they will play either Paulsboro or Palmyra

Woodbury (5-2) beats Sterling 33-0; last year they won 35-7; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 173-112; they have outscored by their 5 returning opponents 124-72 compared to outscoring the same teams 154-76 last year; record indicates significantly down in scoring margin from last year; they will be 4th seed in Group 1 and will most likely play Penns Grove

Burlington Twp. Bishop Eustace (4-3) beat New Egypt 39-6; last year they did not play; they have outscored their first 7 opponents 136-86; they have been outscored by their 4 returning opponents 66-56 compared to 96-54 last year against the same teams; record indicates some improvement in scoring margin from last year; they are guaranteed a playoff spot in a 5 team field in Non-Public Group 2; they have a tough game against Camden catholic, so they will likely only gain residuals, but Morris Catholic has played 8 and can also only pick up residuals; they will likely play in round 1 at BE

I have seen Woodrow Wilson and Schalick and WW is better and beat a winning team.
Haddon Heights /Bridgeton/Schalick/Bishop Eustace – none of them has beaten a winning team. I could rank them in any order so I will go with they left off last year (Bridgeton #11, Schalick #17, Haddon Heights #23 and BE #28).

Collingswood (3-4) loses to Gateway 28-7; last year they won 27-6; they have been outscored by their first 6 opponents 164-87; they have been outscored by their 5 returning opponents 139-54 compared to 89-74 last year; record indicates some improvement over last year; they must upset Haddonfield to make the playoffs and if so, they will most likely face West Deptford or have an outside shot at facing Delsea

Gateway (3-4) beats Collingswood 28-7; last year they lost 27-6; they have been outscored by their first 7 opponents 161-111; they have been outscored by their 6 returning opponents 119-51 compared to 184-83 last year against the same teams; record indicates some improvement over last year; they have an outside chance to make the Group 1 playoffs by defeating Paulsboro; if it should happen, they could play Glassboro in the 1st round
