Playoffs - Round 2:

Group 1:

Glassboro won a tough victory over Penns Grove. PG was great in their loss and I wonder what might have been for them if they weren't still a little banged up from their double overtime game at Schalick last week. It is tough to pull upsets on the road 2 weeks in a row, but they gave it a good try. They can hold their heads up high. It will be tough to decide where to rank them. The Bulldog defense came through when it had to. Defense wins championships.

Paulsboro easily beat Woodbury and will be favored in the final. Their defense shut down Woodbury and gave their offense plenty of opportunities. Defense wins Championships and a nice offense makes it even better.

Group 2:

West Deptford beat Haddonfield again despite giving up 4 fumbles and one was returned 64 yds for a TD. They sacked Haddonfield's QB 4 times. Defense wins championships.

Manasquan will try to avoid the upset against overmatched Bridgeton and will then make it tough for West Deptford in the finals.

Group 3:

Seneca rolls into the finals with a come-back win over Hammonton in front of a large crowd. The Hammonton defense did a great job in the first half but couldn't sustain it in the second half. The Seneca defense stepped up in the second half to shut down Hammonton with several 3 and outs. Defense wins championships and 2nd half defense allows the offense to come back.

Lacey Twp. beat Triton

Group 4:

Absegami returns to the Championship game by shuting down Pennsauken in the 2nd half.

Cherokee beat Toms River East in a close game.

Non-Public Group 3:

Both South Jersey teams lost:

Holy Cross gave Delbarton a battle, but couldn't them in the second half after coming back for a 14-14 tie at half-time.

Holy Spirit was no match for top-seeded Immaculata.

Non-Public Group 2:

A South Jersey team will win this one:

St. Joe's beat Bishop Eustace but BE has nothing to be ashamed of as they held powerful St. Joe's to 14. St Joe's defense shut out BE. St. Joe's is the first team to claim a Group Championship this year and can purchase some more jackets.

Central Jersey Group 1:

Florence said good-bye to the pit with an easy shutout victory against Metuchen. They will play the winner of the top-seeded South River vs. Keansburg game.

Central Jersey Group 3:

Moorestown beat Hamilton West 34-14 after upsetting top-seeded Lawrence last week. Next they will travel to either 2nd seeded Middletown South or Monmouth.
